ENGINEERING GROUP
Introduction
News & Events Committee
Members Blog
The Aslib Engineering
Group was formed to cater for the needs of anyone with an
interest in engineering information. It attracts a wide
range of information workers in all fields of engineering
and also professional engineers who are interested in information.
Its current members are drawn from a wide field which includes
aerospace, computing, construction, energy, manufacturing
and research.
The Group Aims:
- to encourage
networking among members
- to provide
education, training and professional development opportunities
- to increase
awareness of and facilitate access to and utilisation
of engineering information
- to promote
communication between Aslib and its membership within
the engineering community
- to represent
the views of information professionals within the engineering
community
Activities: Visits
are arranged to a variety of organisations of relevance
to engineering and often include an opportunity to see the
library or information unit. Visits allow members to meet
other people in the profession and learn how information
needs are met in a range of different environments.
The group regularly
organises whole - day and afternoon workshops (click
here for forthcoming events). All group activities are
designed to bring practicing engineers and information professionals
together, to create an effective exchange of views and needs.
