Dr Jonathan Sapsed

for Research in Innovation Management)
To
be held on Wednesday, 22nd November 2006 at 14:30
at the London Offices of the Patent Office,
Harmsworth House, 13 - 15 Bouverie Street, London, EC4 8DP
(A
location Map is available on the KIMNET Web Site)
We hear about "globalisation" and "virtual
organisations" increasingly in the current business
world. But what is the actual practice behind the hype?
How do teams work together over distances? How do technologies
like email and videoconferencing affect communications?
What are the real costs and benefits of co- locating people
in the same space? The 'Managing Knowledge Spaces' research
project (www.knowledgespaces.org)
compared the behaviour of dispersed and co-located teams,
to understand the pattern of use of established communications
media and the newer technologies. This interactive workshop
will explore issues affecting choice of media and will share
research findings in companies such as Sun Microsystems,
Arup and QinetiQ.
