Transfer in Distributed Teams
Wednesday,
22nd November 2006 at 14:30
at the London Offices of the Patent Office,
Harmsworth House, 13 - 15 Bouverie Street, London, EC4
8DP
We hear
about "globalisation" and "virtual organisations"
increasingly in the current business world. But what
is the actual practice behind the hype? How do teams
work together over distances? How do technologies like
email and videoconferencing affect communications? What
are the real costs and benefits of co- locating people
in the same space? The 'Managing Knowledge Spaces' research
project (www.knowledgespaces.org) compared the behaviour
of dispersed and co-located teams, to understand the
pattern of use of established communications media and
the newer technologies. This interactive workshop will
explore issues affecting choice of media and will share
research findings in companies such as Sun Microsystems,
Arup and QinetiQ. Click

- KIMNET meeting
for 2006, on Wednesday 20th September at 14:30 at our
usual venue, the Patent Office.
We are fortunate
to have as our speaker, John Paul Kawalek of ThinkTank
International, who will speak to the title:
From
fire-fighting to Organisational Problem-solving.
John will
be sharing with us some very new ideas about how knowledge
management principles can be applied in very practical
ways to significantly benefit individuals and organisations.
Unless we can add value to our organisations we cannot
be successful this meeting will give us an insight
into one approach to delivering this value. This is
a topic relevant to us all and we can expect a different
and very informative meeting. Try not to miss it!
