ASLIB MIDLANDS BRANCH

Introduction    •News & Events   •Committee Members   •Forum

Aslib Midlands is an active branch of Aslib, the Association for Information Management, and aims to support Aslib members in the Midlands by providing a forum for professional communication, training and development.

Aslib Midlands brings together information professionals throughout the region by delivering a wide-ranging programme of high quality seminars, meetings and visits. These events cover topics with universal appeal as well as addressing areas of specific interest to members in the region. They provide an opportunity to update professional knowledge, to network and make contacts in the region, and are extremely good value for money.

Aslib Midlands has previously organised events in the following areas:

  • Marketing an information service
  • Effective end-user training
  • Advanced searching (with Phil Bradley)
  • Copyright (with Paul Pedley)
  • Knowledge Management and the Information professional (with Sylvia Webb)
  • Document delivery
  • Current awareness services
  • Funding for libraries
  • Liability and accountability in information work (with Sylvia Webb)

Aslib Midlands Committee: If you would like to join the committee to help to decide and plan future events, you will be made very welcome! By attending three or four meetings a year you will gain free admission to all events, and it is a great way to make contact with fellow information professionals in the region (plus it looks good on your cv)!
