ASLIB NORTHERN BRANCH

Introduction    •News & Events   •Committee Members   •Forum

Northern Branch is one of Aslib's three regional groups. Its members include librarians and information specialists from a diverse range of public sector and commercial organisations from Stoke on Trent to the Scottish borders. Unlike Aslib's special interest groups, the members do not have a specific subject interest in common. Meetings and events are very stimulating as members find that, however different their organisations, they have issues in common and can help each other to find solutions.

The branch's remit is to promote the work of Aslib and to encourage networking between information professionals within the region. Membership of Aslib automatically confers membership of the branch if located in the North.

In the last few years, the Branch programme has included three to four events each year. Meeting topics have included Copyright, The Invisible Web, evaluating electronic journals and business information in a period of change. There have also been visits to the Museum of Science and Industry and The British Council.

Contact the Membership Department at Aslib for further details.
